Okay I have decided that the best way to get this photo out to a 'winner' is to have my readers post a comment to this post, not just any comment that says you want this photo, but a comment below with a few sentences on your favorite charity or cause and why you give to it. It can be local, national, and anywhere in between. It is just to get you into the hat for the drawing. I will leave this post up until Thursday at 4:00 PM East Coast time. I will then draw a name and ask for the mailing address of the winner and get this package wrapped and mailed...free of charge even if it goes overseas. See the post below for a reminder of the picture printed on canvas and the dimensions of the canvas frame. Remember, even if it does not fit your decor, it might make a good gift for someone you know. And as an extra little bit of motivation and so I am not embarrassed by the lack of interest in my artwork, I will donate $50.00 to the charity of the selected reader. Happy Early Valentines Day to you all!
OK, I'll bite. It's a beautiful photo and I'd like to see my favorite charity get a donation.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite charity is the Medical Charities of Floyd. Our county, Floyd, has a huge number of working artists. Many of these folks don't have health insurance and when disaster strikes the Medical Charities of Floyd steps up to help, benefits are held, donations are solicited and contributed. Of course it's not just artists who benefit but anyone who is in need. This is a small tight-knit community that tries to help all regardless of personal differences, acknowledging that we are all in this together.
I applaud your generosity.
I love photos of nature; especially when I can imagine myself in the midst of it.
ReplyDeletePut my name it the pot. I will choose St. Jude's Children's Hospital because my daughter once asked her friends to donate to them in lieu of giving her a birthday present.
beautiful photo...love the reflections of the ducks on the pastel water.
ReplyDeletewhen my mom died a few years back, in lieu of flowers, she wanted donations sent to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Now every year, i send them a donation in her memory for her birthday.
I call our den "The Duck-In" because my spouse has it decorated in ducks. The picture would thrill him to add to his collection.
ReplyDeleteI know there is some kind of random selection computer program others bloggers have used for give aways. Somehow you enter the names and it shuffles and selects.
We have several favorite charities but Veteran's would top the list with focus on disabled vets. The Salvation Army is next. Of course we support heart and cancer research and our church that has tremendous outreach locally and worldwide.
I'll match your contribution to your choice of my charities if I win. Heck I might just make a contribution in your honor for coming up with such a thoughtful plan.
Great idea and generosity, Tabor!
ReplyDeleteThe photo is stunning, Tabor. Love so much the reflection on water, the color and these ducks doing on water circles and circles. You had much sensibility to capture this moment of much beauty.
About donation, as I live in Brazil, I could not to nominate one. So I asks to you the favor to choose for me your favorite charity to get a donation.
Have a pleasant Sunday!
The Disabled Veteran's Association - those men and women have given so much in the service of others. Even though I am a pacifist in the strongest sense of the word, I so admire and am grateful for the dedication these people show to a cause they believe in that when they send mail asking for a donation, I do my best to give.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea and beautiful photo. My favorite charity is local, the Blue Mountain Action Council of Walla Walla. It's a social services organization, with a huge food bank, sometimes I send my money specifically marked for the food bank. It provides the necessities for people to return to work. I worked some years back in their job lab, writing resumes, teaching computer skills, and other basic job hunting skills. They have a crew who does home repairs and items like wheel chair ramps for for those who can't afford them. They get homeless families off the street. They provide literacy tutors in the work place and in schools. The list is long.
ReplyDeleteLove your idea, it's reminded me to send some money their way. Thanks for having a giving heart Tabor.
Really a good idea, I think...
ReplyDeleteMy condo isn't spacious, but still I would like to display your beautiful photo in our living room.
My favorite charity is "Hatachi no Kikin," which is a foundation for supporting children devastated by Great East Japan Earthquake occurred last spring. Many charity foundations have been established since the disaster, but this foundation particularly focuses on children who take the future on themselves. Hatachi means 20 years old, the legally adult age in Japan, and thus the slogan of the foundation is “let’s keep supporting those who were born in the year of disaster until they gets 20 years old. The word “Hatachi” is also the same pronunciation as the word “leaves” in Japanese. Leaves (changing sunshine into nutrient elements) are essential for the trunk of trees (children). I offered thumbs up and am now one of the supporters although the donation amount is small.
Yes, I want this photograph. :)
ReplyDeleteI give to the homeless because both my eldest daughter and I have been homeless. I give to support the recovering alcoholic, because I am a recovering alcoholic. I give to the Salvation Army because they help many elders live their last few years in dignity like our friend Duck. I'm passionate about Planned Parenthood for the help they have given so many in need. I give my time to the American Cancer Society because the lady who encouraged me first of all my friends died of breast cancer....as did Janey, Marion B, Kay, and Lee just this year. I give to organizations that help those with AIDS, because so many of my friends have died of AIDS or AIDS related diseases like my friend Dale.
I thank you so much for thinking of others. Hugs to you from here.
Tabor, this photo is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteDo not want to be in the drawing
since the walls of this little cottage are full of artwork.
Photo, looks like a painting :)
I certainly do not lack interest in your artwork. I'd count myself lucky to win it.
ReplyDeleteFavourite Charity? Hm, there are several but I'll go with an international one: Medecins sans Frontieres for the dirty, dangerous, absolutely essential work they do in the trouble spots of the globe.
Would they be called Doctors without borders in English?
I have many favorites...but, since I live in Memphis, I am always thinking of St. Jude Children's Hospital. It is 60 years old this year....and they have helped so many children with cancer.....
ReplyDeleteIt is a gorgeous print, Tabor, and I have a thing about ducks. My charity would have to be Doctors Without Borders. I admire them for flying into wartorn corners of the planet and dodging bullets as they care for the wounded and the dying. In my next life, I want to be one of them.
ReplyDeleteI would be thrilled to win this photo. My charity would be any Animal Refuge but mainly the one in my home town. So many animals need help. It isn't easy to get money for food, medicine and other supplies.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea.
