The Fog Seems to Be Lifting

I am not a patient person by nature, but I can call forth a version of the strength of patience if I am not distracted by other things. It is so easy today to get distracted by stuff.  Wandering through your bank statements to make sure nothing has been posted that should not have been posted.  The same distraction of statements from your credit cards.  Nothing comes in paper, so all of this has to be done on the computer screen and each place I stop has a different layout, different tabs, and a different list.  The use of paper was so easy...so black and white...no offers or ads or bright colored menus that take you down the wrong path.

My driver's license is due to expire in December.  I thought I should make an appointment this month to make sure I can get in because our Covid numbers are now climbing once again.  I find on that cluttered website where there are photos of people smiling and wanting to provide good service, that I cannot make an appointment and the Dept. of Motor Vehicles has to send me a notice before I can begin the process to make an appointment.  So I have to trust that they will notice on the database of my pending expiration.  Then I have to hope that the mail they send me will get to me.  Our mail is slower these days.  Also, my driver's license has my physical address and not my mailing address on record.  I use to have a rural mailbox, but after two years in a row of trees falling on it and destroying it, I decided to rent the expensive mailbox at the Post Office.  I did get a license sticker last month that had been delayed because it did not have my P.O. Box in the address.  Therefore, you can imagine my concern that I will not get such a notice for my license renewal.

Therefore, I downloaded and printed the change of address form.  (I had put off filing this because it also would impact my ability to vote!  That is the address they use to certify the validity of the voter form which I dropped off.  I just Knew with 2020 being the evil year that it was, I would be told they could not count my vote due to the discrepancy.)

Therefore, this week I began to complete the form to mail to the DMV for a change of address.  This is not easy.  They need several numbers that are on my car.  I have to walk through a muddy forest to my neighbor's house, an acre away, to get the numbers off my car!  We had the driveway re-sealed yesterday...thus leading hubby trying to park the cars on the street road and my car sliding off the side of the grass into the muddy thick ditch.  We had to call the tow truck to pull it out and then asked our neighbor if we could park in her driveway.  (Her house is under contract and no one is living there now.)  Since I cannot walk on the driveway for several days, I must cross through the woods.

This morning hubby found he had left about $100 of meat in his car after our food shopping trip two days ago!  We bought a lot of stuff from the big box store and he missed his two little shopping bags.  That now goes into the trash!

These are not the distractions that I wanted to take my mind off of  Pennsylvania counting ballots (that they could have counted days ago!) following their state laws of having to wait until after election day!

Please tell me that 2021 will be better. (I just heard that Biden has been declared the winner...that helps!) To leave on a calm note, I posted the photo below toward my side of the river as the fog was lifting---how symbolic!

  1. How beautiful too.
We have had a better week here. I'm sorry about the meat and sliding off the road into the ditch. I'm hopeful at last about Biden's election. The third time is the charm, they say.

    1. Amen, on the ouch. As for Joe Biden, yay, i won't have to take time off work - no riots breaking out to worry over.

The right wingers? They're not happy with the election, they'll react like right-wingers always do - they'll get up and go to their jobs, and work.

  3. Beautiful pic, Tabor! And yes, symbolic too - the fog is finally lifting! It has been a strange year... and may not be over for some time, BUT Biden won! That's a good start.

  4. I wish we were neighbors with a wine zip line.
Forgetting groceries in the car...I review, and then tap my hand on the driver side mirror to help me know I have locked the car, and left nothing behind. Lock beep not good late at night eliminated by 95%. 😎

  5. Oh, my, that was quite a saga of misadventure. I hope things are looking up for you soon. It did make for interesting reading though, sort of a "now what?"

  6. So sorry to hear of your grocery loss, but really glad you are able to celebrate with me the fact that we will soon have a new president! :-)

  8. Gorgeous photo.

We carry grocery bags in the back of the car and I have forgotten to check all the bags on occasion. I have found grocery items days later, though never meat products. That is a big loss.

    Next year will be better!

  9. I's always a hard time of year for me since so many of our loved ones have gone on and with the kids grown, we often didn't get Christmas with them anyway as they had other families. i am hoping for brighter days ahead.

  10. things are already better I think. Trump has become irrelevant no matter what he tries. the world has moved on with a big sigh of relief. now it remains to be seen if the Republican party will continue the obstruction and divisiveness they started with the election of a black man or if they will become functioning partners in our government.

  11. The DMV is never fun to deal with, but fortunately we only have to visit them once every few years. Good luck!

Sorry about the meat....so goes life! Happens to us once in a while...senior moments I suppose. We still do our bills snail mail. I know what you mean about two addresses...we had two when we lived at the lake community as we had our own post office and no mail delivery...yet we had to use our physical address for things like UPS, fed ex, other deliveries...caused confusion. Most people I know are praying for Trump. I always vote pro-life for the little babies. Andrea

  13. Mercy, it sounds like things that would happen here, one crazy instance leading to another.

  14. Hope you are feeling a bit better this morning. I didn't see Trump on the golf course, but I did see Biden putting together a Covid team.

  15. I'd make an appointment as soon as possible. Our DMV was closed for months. I went after they opened the guy in front of me did not make an appointment in advance and they turned him away as they were only seeing people who have appointments.

  16. $100 worth of meat isn't much meat in this day and time. I can't believe the prices of beef, etc. It is always a hopeful sign when the fog is lifting. Hope that will be true for 2020. I didn't want Biden or Trump but at least now we can wait and see.

  17. I've done it. Left a bag of groceries in the car. Now days I actually do it on purpose (non perishables of course) because if my neighbor is out he always wants to know if I need help carrying them in. I always so no - I am very stubborn and independent and I realize that I should not be but I can't stand it. So I save the non perishables until after dark when he is back inside. This is probably why I have lower back issues. I am my own worst enemy.

My drivers license was up in May and I think I got around to renewing it in August,it's all a blur. My daughter lived in FL and they renew every 6 years, Ohio every 4. I heard CA renews every 10 years. Not sure about that.

I'm calm and optimistic about the future. Had things turned out differently, I'd probably be in my bed with the covers pulled over my head.
