From MessiMimi...a fill-in.

One of my readers (perhaps others) is not happy about how 'dismissive" my posts seem to be during this time of death and danger.  I try to write light-hearted because there is way too much depressing information out there.  My life is not all sunshine and roses, but I do not want to share the hard stuff with readers, as I am still a bit private even though anonymous.  I also do not want to brag about the things I am doing because I have the privilege of being upper-middle-class and can afford to assist.   So I like to make reading the blogs a break from reading the news.  I also avoid politics (I do give in now and again to try to convince others) when I can.

Below is an exercise from Messimimi's blog.  Simple and a nice distraction.

1. I can’t wait for _______ to reopen after the quarantine.

2. I am in no hurry for __________ to reopen after the quarantine.

3. These days, ______ is my default mood.

4. Have I ever told you ________?

You can play in the comments and then perhaps I will repost with my answers.

Here is a course from Yale on happiness you can audit for FREE.

  1. I am glad to find positive places to read. We have plenty of the dark side. If you have a life that has more benefits, that came from work not some kind of gift.

  2. I limit the news I watch these days. Too much bad news brings me down too much. Walking helps but I miss the trails. That ‘s what I look forward to most, getting back on the trails with my husband, a picnic and the dog.

  3. I so much appreciate your witty blog posts. Some people I guess just want doom and gloom all the time. My answers: 1. my coffee shop; 2. the ice cream shop because I'll eat too much of it; 3. sadness; 4. how much your blog means to me. :-)

  4. Dismissive!? I don't see it. I see you as compassionate, considerate, and as funny to read as you are interesting. Methinks, people don't always see what is there before getting all huffy. There are few that at one time or another haven't visited huffy land or missed the nuances of a personality. I've heard many a point whizzing right by me over the years.

  6. 1. bookstores 2. dentist! 3. quiet 4. that I enjoy reading your blog
And I wouldn't be reading these blogs if they weren't uplifting... we get enough bad on the news these days (and I stopped watching that). It doesn't mean we aren't aware of how bad things are... more so for some than others... but it does me good to hear what others are doing to get through this new normal... and I appreciate trying to keep things 'light'.

  8. I avoid negative people, on blogs and in my day to day life. They no longer annoy me, life is too short, I just shrug and move on. Each of your readers has formed an opinion about you and made a decision to be a Follower, it's not like we are related or live on the other side of the fence and we don't have any choice. You contribute in some way to my enjoyment of life and I thank you for that.
As for the quizz: 1. library 2. shops 3. hope 4. I have 5 granddaughters (I know I haven't because the 5th just happened last night).

At my house, we are so tired of listening/watching (the) news. It's always the same it seems. You can only take so much of bad news...it is healthy to focus on something lighthearted and even comical for relief.
I can't wait for the airlines to open. On a more serious side I can't wait for churches to open.
There is nothing I dread opening....and basically other than traveling, our lives have not changed. Andrea

  11. Thank you for staying positive as much as anyone can in all of this, and for the mention. You might also want to mention the real stars of the show, Ms. Ellen of www.15andmeowing.com and Ms. Lorianne of www.fourleggedfurballs.blogspot.com, as they are the true hosts of the Friendly Fill-Ins and come up with the sentences.
