Where Would FB Be Without Pet Photos?

While I am allergic to cats, it does not mean that I do not like them. I just avoid them. I often find it amazing that if you enter a home where they have failed to put the cat away and you(me) avoid eye contact with the fuzzy creature, it will then rub back and forth on your ankles demanding attention and ignoring the petting of everyone else. Below is a photo of nobody's pet. It is feral in our woods but fed by well-meaning but clueless neighbors.

Above it is cruising the bird feeders! Below it is on my deck trying to catch a finch that landed on the table.

It has lovely markings and does not run from people, so I would think it would make a nice selection in the habitat house. NOw we just have to figure out how to catch it without touching it!

I have two grand-dogs in my family. One at each of my children's houses. This lovely rescue granddog came to visit this past weekend. She was adopted at about 8 months old. They do not have a history of her, but know she came through several states by van to get here and therefore, seems to have a terror of traveling in cars. She also is adjusting to being left alone. We left her behind when I took the kids shopping at our local discount store. When I returned I was greeted by this!

The other shoe was far worse! These are my go-to shoes for running outside to grab a photo and thus slip on quickly. I have owned them for years!! Oh well, now I need to shop for shoes.

She was somewhat remiss...somewhat.

Above she is ready for her walk and waiting for someone to open the gate and bring her leash. She is a lover when at rest.

While I am not crazy about pets on my furniture, I can give a little for granddogs.

  1. I think the dog is looking sorry for chewing up your slip on shoes. They were just so tasty!

  2. That last statement applies at our house too.

  3. Oh ouch! Wow! I’m glad my grand dog doesn’t like the flavor of shoes. He’s very old though and maybe protecting his teeth.

  4. My daughter and her two kids have their own little zoo with all the critters. I have no pets now and I really don't miss having one. I can enjoy others' pets in small doses.

  5. Oh drat, sorry about your shoes. My grandkids new pound pup (so far) doesn't chew shoes but everything else is at risk. he's particularly fond of mashing up Lego.

  6. Thank you for sharing a lovely smile making post.
Siameses cats are the worse on my allergies.

  7. What a cutie! I'm sorry about your shoes, but they must have been so tasty, filled with smells from you. :-)

  8. I would feed that cat too. It is such a handsome one and I do love kitties. Dogs are fine as long as they belong to other people.
I'm glad the shoe chewer was forgiven.

  9. "Oh well, now I need to shop for shoes."

    The silver lining.

  10. Cats have a knack for fining the humans who dislike them for whatever reason. I've seen it time and again with ours ;) I think they have a cynical streak

  11. I gave up keeping the dog off the couch. there's a gray cat here that I think showed up a couple of months ago. another neighbor feeds her but she spends a lot of time in my yard driving the dog crazy. she's friendly, lets me pet her and is not afraid of the dog in the least.

    1. You should put her in a shelter as she is going to be eating all the babies this spring...birds, lizards, turtles, etc.

  12. You can catch the cat in a have-a-heart trap, get it spayed or neutered, then rehome it where it can be part of a managed feral colony, if they have that in your area.

Unfortunately, cats do what cats do, and that is hunt.

  13. I’ve had cats and dogs, none now, but am definitely a dog person. Cat was not allowed to roam at night and never left our yard during the day the various places we lived. Our cat came from a feral cat’s litter at the first house we bought, but I think feral cats should be rounded up and not allowed to roam. I dislike the danger they are to our declining bird population. Curiously my Dtr developed an allergy to cats after she left home and her Dtr is allergic too. My dogs trained to stay off furniture and told family leave pets at home — dragging their pets around everywhere they go by so many people has gotten a bit silly in recent decades IMHO. 🙂. Sorry about your shoes — never had a dog chew shoes, but last dog we rescued from pound, 10 months old, was a mistake. She chewed my expensive brand new drapes the first few nights we had her. Should have returned her but we didn’t and had no more problems though she was neurotic — probably occurred in her puppyhood as any dogs we raised before that didn’t have such problems.

  14. Actually it is tough to indoor an Outdoor cat. they will always want out! We used have-a-heart traps for the wild ones nd kept catching our own plus many skunks!
Most dogs have abandonment anxiety. Put them where they can't get your stuff (or close doors) and provide a chew thuing. Someone I know once came home to couch-cushion stuffing all over the house! I think some folks get pets just to put pics on facebook...

    1. They do provide the dog with chewing toys, and she does eat stuff at home and they are using a professional trainer. Also this dog is not yet ayear old, so hoping it improves. What did you use as bait for the cats?
