I have a Question
Your hubby is out of town and returning the next morning. A friend of his is arriving tonight to spend the night before a trip they are taking together. He is arriving between 7:30 PM and 8:00 PM. Do you offer dinner, a snack, or what? You ate dinner an hour ago.
If it were me, i'd offer a large snack that could easily be turned into a dinner if he hadn't eaten. Then again, i am always afraid of people going hungry at my house.
ReplyDeleteBrunch style snack, convertible like MessyMimi suggests.
ReplyDeleteAsk, "have you eaten?" and go from there, hoping he says yes.
ReplyDeleteYou could also just order him a pizza! :-)
ReplyDeleteOffer him a hearty snack unless he says that he has eaten. In that case, bring out something light like a small cheese plate and some alcoholic beverage.
ReplyDeleteI'm too late to offer a suggestion. What was the verdict?
ReplyDeleteWell, he stopped along the way and did eat and was 40 minutes late. He brought homemade cookies from his girlfriend and we had milk and cookies for dessert!
ReplyDeleteThe problem has been solved. I think it always good to at least offer some food or beverage, but definitely hope the guest has already eaten a meal.
ReplyDeleteyes, ask if he's hungry and go from there.
ReplyDeleteI got here to late. Yes, if you want a Miss Manners opinion, as if he is hungry and punt. I bet the cookies were great. Hope they have a wonderful trip.
ReplyDeleteFrom the man's point of view: 8 p.m? Not necessary.
ReplyDeleteComing late to the party and the issue is gone, I agree with the comment above. Ask, have you eaten and go from there. Cookies for dessert are always good, he probably ate on the way as so as to not put you out!
