Imprinting

Got up early with my insomnia to be greeted by this. (yes, I know that I should have brought all this inside long ago!)  Snow has already stopped and it now looks like some angry overwrought baker has spilled flour everywhere.  It all may start to melt by this afternoon.

One family in the city woke up to see their car in the middle of the paved street under four feet of water and part of their front yard being washed away due to a sink hole and a water main break.  No one warns you about stuff like that!

On a lighter note, the fun part is going out once daylight begins and seeing what animals had the same insomnia as I and left their footprints across the yard!

  2. Tabor, loved your comment about the baker and the flour, so funny for an early morning. Sorry to hear about your neighbor. You are right, no warnings about those kinds of things.

  3. I am trying hard not to complain about the cold front ("cold") that is the tail of that storm affecting Florida.
I have found that northern family and friends do not appreciate my whining...no sympathy at all.

  4. Amazing how something so beautiful can cause such havoc. A little dusting at my house this morning - enough for Richmond and all the surrounding counties to close school. I feel for the people further up north.
I hope you enjoyed your walk among the critters.

  5. snow holds no mystery or excitement for me. I've been in enough of it to know that it is just cold wet stuff and when it gets on you, you are cold and wet.

  6. I always try to photograph snow. It's not easy. Last year I got into the idea of photographing individual snowflakes but mine came out pretty pathetic. have to catch them on a cold glove. This year we have not yet had any. We still could but our temps have been in the 50s during the day. Foggy and still days.

  7. As long as the footprints don't look like a size 11 Bruno Mali.

  8. I know it's interesting and can be fun for a while, but I don't miss snow too much, certainly not in the amounts the East Coast is now getting.

  9. I have many footprints in the snow in my yard. It makes me feel good that these creatures found shelter under my deck. Even better is that they were small footprints.

Also glad that the snow was a remnant of yesterday's light storm and we got nothing from the over-hyped blizzard of the century.

  10. Nice shot. With a little judicious trimming, that would make a great B&W piece. So sorry about the insomnia.

  15. I thought you only got sink holes in Florida. Hope that car (and your neighbor) was alright.

  16. TYN: Why thank you for your kind words. I was just sitting reading in my favorite chair. The sun began going down, and that bowl of fruit just electrified itself. I just happened to have my camera to hand. :)

  17. That's looking a lot like sleet. We're in a warming trend here in CO, at least until the end of the week. Snow in my world doesn't cause much panic - unless we go a few days without getting any.

  18. A fresh layer of snow requires one to venture out and explore.

  20. I woke up ~3 this morning and gave up all attempts about an hour later. :(

We may get our biggest snowfall of the inter tomorrow: ~10cm maybe. Not huge, but I am actually looking forward to it.
