Good, better, best,
Never let it rest,
Until the good is better,
And the better is best.
Or....if it is not your life at stake,
You can accept the reality that you are not perfect.
You can accept the reality that you are somewhere in the middle.
You can accept the reality that you have lots of company.
You can accept the reality that while we honor and love the best in us and others, we feel most comfortable with someone who gave it their best shot and then can laugh about it when they missed the target.
Or, perhaps accept it was the wrong target after all?
Interesting thought... I'm thinking that since I'm new to blogging myself, I just can't give up! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI heard the "Good Better best" from my mom almost every day. She learned it in 3rd grade. I'd never heard it before.
ReplyDeleteI'll be thinking about this for a while.

ReplyDeleteMediocre? Never. That’s a nasty word.

Never let perfection stand in the way of good.
ReplyDeleteha. there comes a point when we try to reach too high for perfection, forgetting it is unattainable...and we miss the spirit of it, in our quest for excellence
ReplyDeleteI recently read that the word sin originally meant "missing the mark."
ReplyDeleteAs a young woman I got the image of a ladder and thought, there will always be people higher up and better at something than me and people lower down that are not as good as good as I am at something. The image just put life in perspective for me and helped me just be where I am.
Love the poetic riddling.
I am going for the beer.
ReplyDeleteYou pose an interesting thought. Think I'll go get a beer and think about it.
