Huh?
If you close your eyes and remember this past winter...I know you don't want to go there, but stay with me... perhaps you will remember how we escaped from my front yard with the downed trees via canoe crossing two feet of snow as we left early for a week in sunny 'tropical' Florida. And, naturally, once we got there, warm weather...well, not so much! It was as cold as a Minnesota fall. Six weeks later we left once again, this time with the grandkids and their parents, for another jaunt in an attempt at finding early summer and summer was still was being held hostage somewhere down near the equator.
Our first day at the beach late last March was really not so bad...just pretty windy but not enough to blow sand in your face. We tucked behind a sand dune and when I got up to go exploring I saw this 'person' on the other side of our dune in the shelter of another little sandy hill. It was NOT that cold. I cannot fathom what on earth he was thinking if this was the necessary costume and attitude for him to spend a day at the beach. He should have stayed back at the condo or hotel or saved money and stayed at his home up North...or PERHAPS he was here hiding from all of his family that were holding up back at the condo avoiding the wind. Hmmmm. Maybe I feel sorry for him. (This isn't you, hiding from you know who, is it?)
(Remember our troops this Memorial Day weekend if you live in the great U.S.A.)

Now that is what I call, taking a nap on the beach!!?? Huh is right!
ReplyDeleteYes I remember! Today, finally; actually all this week, sunny, hot and I am loving it!!
Yes! I am remembering our troops...thank you for those standing for our freedom!!
Hugs
SueAnn
That would have been a strange sight to happen upon but my first thought was that maybe he was convalescing from an illness and just felt the cold more.. but wanted his day on the beach nonetheless.
ReplyDeletethe world is full of odd sights -
ReplyDeleteThat could have been me; avoiding sun and windburn!!
ReplyDeleteI'd trade places with him, we've rain dripping down our collars for quite awhile. The garden has drowned. Great picture. The joke's on him.
ReplyDeleteLOL! That looks like my DH - I wonder if it was! He always covers completely up, long sleeves, long pants, hat, and all before heading to the beach, and then covers up when he gets there!
ReplyDeleteSince I have had frequent skin cancers I would cover up completely too.
ReplyDeleteHere in the Pacific Northwest it has been cold and rainy for days. I'd take the sun any way I could get it at this point, even from under a blanket.
ReplyDeleteIt is soooooo cold in Seattle! I'm wrapped in blankets wishing for a sunny day!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't help but wonder if perhaps he was a native? I've had several friends from Florida, and there were not well acclimated to the cold, so when they first came out here, they'd dress as if for a blizzard when it was 48 degrees.
ReplyDeleteOr perhaps he is involved in some ritual where he's trying to provoke visions through an approximation of sweat lodge!
But I like the idea that he's hiding down there. Wrapped up like a burrito, trying to disappear :-) It's rather a peaceful thought.
He forgot his sunscreen....that was me in the car yesterday covering my one arm which is now twice as brown as the other. Goodness you were brave to clean out the garage so enthusiastically. Our snakes are not harmless tho our weather was glorious until today.
ReplyDeleteare you sure he was alive? He's all tucked in neatly, feet together, he can't have done that himself?
ReplyDeletea strange sight, I wonder what would have happened if you'd blown a shrill whistle somewhere near him.
Not nice of me, I know.
It looks like someone could drive a dune buggy or something over that person without knowing they were there. It is a bit frightening and does make you ask "why go to the beach?"
ReplyDeleteNon-Americans can also honor our Memorial Day as many of our countrymen died on your soil for you too.
Are you sure he was still alive?
ReplyDeleteGreat photo.
Looks kind of familiar. The last time we were over to the ocean there were people under blankets everywhere. Of course, this is Maine, where you need long johns under your swimming clothes.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Friko and JarieLyn - I wonder if he was breathing. When I go near the sun I have to wear sunscreen and cover up because of an allergic reaction. Could have been something like that. Presumably he could hear the ocean and smell the breeze.
ReplyDeletewow,
ReplyDeletevery dangerous to sleep over there.
thank you for sharing!
