Somewhere among my paper photos is a picture of a dinosaur cake...the most difficult construction and decoration that I did for my budding paleontologist son who now is a wannabe rock star, but I do not know where that photo is. Click on photos unless you are on a diet.

Why I am Fat...well, Chubby.
A long time ago in a land far, far away a Queen without servants would now and again feel the need for some celebration organization such as the birthdays of the Prince and Princess and sometimes friends of theirs. And so she took it on herself to spend many hours into the wee morning hours before those big days to decorate special birthday cakes. When you live where there are no bakeries, one must take on the challenges oneself. (In this modern world, my daughter orders her cakes so I no longer do this, and yes, I have been scanning slides once again!)

No WAY! At first I thought you were showing pics of the ones your daughter orders, then it dawned on me that these were ones YOU made!
ReplyDeleteThat's it. I'm never making a cake again. Well, at least I'll never show photos of them on my blog. LOL!
Those are awesome and then some.
Those cakes are fabulous!!! Each one is a wonder!!

Oh these are wonderful. I love the Lion King one best.. or the bee.. or the last one. I think I just gained 3 pounds. Thanks a LOT, Tabor! ;)
ReplyDeleteOk you are my new hero. Deeply repressed in my cache of parenting failures lies a purple blob that tried for one very long night and one very messy kitchen to become the star of a Holly Hobby birthday party for my precious and perfect daughter. I believe I ate most of it in frustration before calling the bakery.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter and dil are terrific cake makers, so I'm off the hook there. Good thing because I'm more along the lines of...

I am so impressed. You are one talented lady. My cakes for the children were just 3 layer cakes, iced in different flavors and candles.
ReplyDeletehey, wow! I had no idea. You are a wonder-woman-cake-decorator! That BEE! Love it. I always choose the piece with the most frosting, usually a corner.
ReplyDeleteOh My, Oh MY......these are really good. Bravo to you.
ReplyDeleteAnd you are not chubby.....
ReplyDeleteWow! So beautiful cakes! I am very impressed. Well done, Tabor! You are an artist.
ReplyDeleteI am so impressed. My cakes usually were lopsided and I was lucky if the candles would stay upright. My decorating skills consisted of colored icing and the appropriate number of candles. If I was feeling daring I would buy some decorations to stick on top.
ReplyDeleteYour cakes were works of art.
Oh no you di'int make those beautiful cakes!!!!
ReplyDeleteLovely cakes. I never even tried to make a cake look like anything it wasn't. Just smooth icing for me - well, never really smooth - but tasty!
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing wrong with "chubby". Anymore that simply means you've got more meat on your bones than an anorexic Super Model.
ReplyDeleteThose cakes are THE BOMB! Why would you stop using such wonderful talent?
what a creative person you are! I remember those doll cakes - and trying to make one! I should have called you! Where was blogging when we needed it most?
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful gift of art you have those cakes are incredible thanks for sharing your talent with us.
