Time is Such a Moving Thing.

I somehow missed the headline in the Science section of the newspaper about how the earth is ever so subtly speeding its rotation.  I failed to learn that the earth is on a new scary speed.  I guess that is why I had the conversation below:

Tabor:  Is today Wednesday?
Hubby:  Nope.
Tabor:  Thursday?
Hubby:  Nope.
Tabor:  FRIDAY??
Hubby:  Yep.
Tabor:  Oh s**t...!  (I only swear like a sailor when it is truly important and it appears that someone or something stole my whole week.)

Not too long ago my week was composed of 5 long days and two very short ones.  Now my week is composed of three very short days.  I am still trying to figure out how this happened and to adjust.

  1. I think I'm down to two days. By the way, I'm married to a sailor and you don't come close to swearing like one.

  3. Is it really speeding up? I thought it was just my advanced age that was making time seem to whiz by.

  5. My mother told me that as I aged I'd notice time speeding up (or it would seem that way). The odd thing is that my children started noticing that when they were teens, so I think it is real. Somewhere in the Bible, it mentions the "end times and that time will speed up. Scary!

  7. Somebody has recently done a scientific study. Apparently it's something to do with getting older and there not being enough brain cells any more.

Don't believe them. Believe me, when I say, that the reason is "things just ain't what they used to be".
    Somebody stole my week!.

  9. I am right there - with all the comments - I thought it was just me.
Lately I am two or more days behind.
Now I know it is not just me!!

  10. I always feel that there is not enough time in the day. I don't know if that is good or bad. Probably good.

  12. My theory is that entire groupings of days are falling into inexplicable voids in the universe, where the missing socks of the world reside, and single earrings go too.

But I like your theory too ;-)

  13. I figure I have a half day totally free. Frankly I want to spend part of another half day, which is usually budgeted for something else, to take the endless boxes of stuff north to my daughter. What she couldn't use, she said she would pass on to other battered women.

Poetry groups. Contact your local community college. While you are talking to them about their classes, ask them about classes for Seniors/Elders. I signed up for a regular writing group and found myself in this ladies poetry group as an off shoot. Good stuff. :)

  14. I so agree with you....and, it is making me want to scream; "Slow down"!!!!
I'm beginning to wonder if it is just my age....(old)! : )

  16. Time really is speeding up-I have decided that its NPR's fault. I always set all of my clocks by NPR..and over the last few months I have had to reset them several times to catch up to the time on NPR. Then I started to wonder - how does NPR figure out what time it is anyway?

  17. While I was sick I slowed time. By doing nothing all day, I was able to slow it to boring pace. I liked the power in that. It's all sped up again today.

Hope you didn't get too "sick" of shoveling.
