Jet Planes

"Leaving on a jet plane and pretty sure when I will be back again. And no, I don't hate to go."  Did John Denver just roll over in his grave or was that a mild earthquake??

We are heading for a week on Oahu and a week on Hawaii (the Big Island.) We will be playing tourist as well as visiting a number of friends. As those who have visited this blog decades ago may remember I went to graduate school at the University of Hawaii as did my husband. We met there and married there and started our careers heading further East toward islands and other countries in the South Pacific.

Anyway, I am going with son and daughter-in-law and hubby this time and hope to get away from all the crappy news, pardon my French, and instead be faced with volcanos and hurricanes in the Pacific which are somehow far more rational than what is happening in the U.S.A. I am up for the challenge and promise photos upon my return...I saw a few of you yawning out there in Internet Land. I will keep it succinct.

  1. Hope you have a wonderful time in Hawaii. Our son lives on Oahu... in Kailua... and loves it. We hope to visit him sometime this year. He moved there about a year ago and we haven't had a chance to visit yet. I also have a friend who lives on the big island. Her house is right where the eruptions began. Although many have lost their homes, hers is still there.

  3. Aloha! Have a great vacation. We will persist here in the homeland, sine we know that Hawaii is not really part of the USA. :-)

  13. My doctor's office just called me in for a followup on an adrenal mass. What? No one told me about one. Google doesn't say if it causes sleepiness. None of the other symptoms are me. I have no idea what's happening.
For you...maybe it's the trip? Are you thinking too much...that's my big problem.

    1. If it is not one thing it is another. Try to tackle one issue at a time. My lungs are a chronic bronchitis from scar tissue. Who knew? Never smoked and was not a first responder.

  15. I loved John Denver. My late brother was an even bigger fan of Denver than me. Fortunately, we got to see him live in concert about 18 months before Denver's untimely death. His voice was so pure...so powerful. He was wonderful. And fortunately, we got to meet him and talk with him for a brief while. It was a truly memorable night...in so many ways.
