Burdens Need Strong Boots

This has been an extremely rough week for those I love and since I have no control over their lives, and can only worry,  I curl up like an abandoned kitten and hide out at my computer and fiddle. When it is too cold to go outside, I do still life photos. These are two pairs of shoes I took from my closet and with filters and layering and some dodging and burning, made a vintage photo to match the subject of the photo. The black boots are my snow boots and the other's are a favorite pair of cowboy boots that I own.

"No temptation[a] has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted[b] beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted,[c] he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it."  Corinthians 10:13   When someone says "God will not give you more than you can handle," please note that this Biblical quote is about temptation and not about the burdens of life.  God WILL give you more than you can handle, and all you have to do is wait if your burdens are light.

  1. That's so true, Tabor. I've had plenty more grief than I could handle at times in my life, but when I look back to those days from here, I realize that yes indeed, I did get through those times, and have had plenty of joy and delight since then. I love your boot pictures! How original. You've given me some ideas. :-)

  2. We had the same discussion today at book club about temptation and burdens! Life can be tough but there are good times too. Stay tuned!

  3. He gives you no more than you can handle when you are leaning on Him, is how i take the quote "My yoke is easy and my burden is light."(Matthew 11:30) Also, "Cast all of your cares upon Him, for He cares for you."(1 Peter 5:7)

It's so difficult sometimes. We have had so much happen the last few months that part of me wants to curl up and give up. Yet. As bad as it gets, He is there, and i lean, and i can do one more day.

Your pictures are beautiful, and your family is in my prayers.

I will say a prayer right now for your loved ones and to ease your worry. No one is spared from sorrows in this world. That is why we need faith to build up our heavenly home that is awaiting us. Andrea

  5. DJan's message is wonderful. You will get through this. For now, take comfort in knowing that you are in the thoughts and prayers of many.

  6. Those are nice still lifes, which I am terrible at.

You fiddle? I have one, and tried my hand at it for a few years, but arthritic fingers and back had their way with me. I really enjoyed it for a few years although I began very late and didn't get very good at all to say the least. There is a bit of a fiddling culture around here ... in the more rural areas at least.

  9. I'll say up front that I'm not a believer. we endure through bad times because we have no other choice. our bodies don't give up the ghost just because we are sad or have heavy burdens. we can carry on moaning and crying or we can carry on simply facing what must be done.

  10. It has been a hard time for many. I wish I believed in answered prayer or that no one gets more than they can handle. It is a belief that does help for those who think that way. I'm more of a 'do what I can. It is what it is. Nothing lasts forever-- but it might seem like it at the time' believer.

  11. I'm a failure at believing in God's will or that she doesn't give you more than you can handle. I do believe that letting go works. Transference works. Visualization works. There are a lot of other tools that work. You are not alone in all this. Please remember. Hugs from the rain here.

  12. Sometimes I just get out in nature and scream until I can't, although days it's getting harder for me to get out far enough not to alarm someone. My heart is with you.

  15. Understand this well with 4 children, now adults and all involved in so much. All I know is nothing lasts forever
and life is continually changing. At now 83 have witnessed much and it continues now with grandchildren. I just love them, listen to them and pray.
