A Thursday Thirteen Dichotomy and a Happy Thanksgiving!

Defined with examples. (Please ignore the html numbering that I cannot seem to correct.)

  1. Reading about a 5-day fitness plan connected to my Fitbit newsletter while eating chocolate chip cookies.
  2. The photo below shows two bags of  textbooks.  One I brought and the other my new student brought to our first class meeting.  You can guess which was hers and why I am now jogging in place as fast as I can!
  1. I have been better about doing my free weight routine every other day...then on the days I am not working with weights I am lifting other things---to my mouth.
  2. I had fiddled with my settings on Blogger to make it easier for me to use the template and it seems to have resulted in my readers being unable to find my blog updates.
  3. I changed the bedding in the guest bedroom last week after my young-uns had left and because I complained about hubby's snoring keeping me awake last night he said, with a smile, I should just sleep up there since the sheets are clean.
  4. I wrote a brief poem on my other blog, but like this blog, no one can seem to find it!
  5. Each year I send out a list of possible things we would like to get in order to help busy children with their Christmas gifting, and as a result, I usually know what is beneath the wrapping paper on Christmas morning.
  6. We have a new brand of supermarket in the area.  The produce looks fresher but the meat selection is not so good.
  7. I have been carefully searching for real news sites that are not dependent on corporations for profit as much of the "liberal" press skims real news these days and now walks on eggshells since our new leader does not give much access, but this also means I am still reading news which is depressing.
  8. I have a list which I have printed and placed next to my PC of  liberal news (im)postors that post click-bait junk and misleading headlines to my Facebook feed.  I no longer visit those news sites.  I also have a list of conservative news "impostors" on Facebook, but I rarely read them anyway.  An imposter is an imposter.
  9. I have begun my bird counting.  The first two days were so windy I could barely see the little brown birds  among the little brown leaves, both hopping about.
  10. We are eating out at a restaurant for Thanksgiving which means no food shopping or cooking or clean up.  It also means no family and no leftovers and no homemade items.
  11. If you wonder why the world seems to be a dichotomy for me, the leader of the free world, while speaking with clarity, keeps changing his verbal position to an opposite stance on so very many things and this is very confusing to me.  I like consistency in old age.  Experience has shown it is wise.
Yes, I am a little bent out of shape these days...but not this skinny!

  1. Thank you so much for your visits and encouragement. How wonderful that you were able to spend some time in Korea too. Blogger was doing some goofy things with my blog too. Sigh.

  2. Here young trees were tied to bend as to point directions for travelers to certain crossing points over the waterways or to certain places.

Sometimes I want to have no extra holiday work- That's a good solution.

  3. I don't know you on FB so I couldn't let you know there, there is an app that screens out all the stuff you don't want to see... http://www.fbpurity.com/
I like that our president elect is going directly to us, the press on both sides has gotten far away from factual journalism.
Wishing you a very Happy Thanksgiving!

    1. I have no problem with him going direclty to us. I have a problem with him having secret meeings with the press, insulting them, and I have problems with a press that goes along. They are not the marketing arm of the governemnt, they are the fact checking arm. There are still those journlists out there who are honest. I do not see that awful racist stuff on my FB feed as the one or two radical friends I had defriended me...I did not defriend them. Now I am just blocking those other feeds that have stolen photos and misleading headlines.

    2. the media lost any possibility of being considered journalism with how they handled this year with their clear favorite and the headlines that totally misled. I get no racist stuff on my FB but a lot of hate Trump often missstating his positions based on what the mainstream media told them. A lot of blogs or biased sites that I don't go to any based on the need to fact check them and I don't have the time. I don't read any memes from either side.

Did you see the article that kids from Macedona are creating a lot of those memes out of boredom and making money? What a time and social media is not helping.

  4. Oh girl, talk about bent out of shape--that would be me and ain't nothin' skinny about me right now either. :( If you find a good source of news that is happening in this country, please share. I don't know how we will make it through the next four years here...and I don't have a passport so guess I'll just pull the covers over my head (as my momma used to say) and only come up for air (and food) occasionally. :D I did cook for the two of us yesterday, but only because I really really wanted my own turkey breast and stuffing and deviled eggs. I'm spoiled like that sometimes. *grins*

  5. I also plan to spend a lot more time in the two rooms of fabric stash so I can vent some rage safely. :D :D

  7. I always find you. :)
Life would be naked without you. Blogger does have a help page...which hasn't helped me any. Happy Thanksgiving. We ate out too. LOL

  8. Worry ruins my appetite! I don't really recommend this as a diet aid, however.

  9. This was fun, glad I didn't miss it. I have been bent out of shape and really turned around with all the Donald double speak and fake news. I feel it's all been reduced down to a reality show!

  10. Oh boy oh boy oh boy... that's quite the laundry list. If I may, why not change your perspective and view the news from the outside looking in. I've provided the three major Canadian new providers should you wish to explore.

    1. I do what you say. I read the Guardian, listen to BBC on both TV and radio and read the Canadian news.

  11. Good journalism can be found and was available during the campaigns -- but that's not to say many news sources shouldn't have asked a lot harder questions. But I haven't cluttered up my mind with FB, Twitter's sound bites and many other sites including the emotional uncivil ranters, ravers, obvious and subtle prevaricators, gossip sites/publications. Guardian, BBC, World TV for German, French and Japanese perspectives, PBS, Charlie Rose Show, as well as my all news radio station can help sort out fact from fiction with a little common sense, judgement absent the sensationalism. Traditional commercial TV news, listening to views contrary to my own in daily life, reasoning -- all are revealing. There's no way to avoid recognizing actions and behaviors associated with kleptocracy, autocracy, and various "isms", lack of knowledge about our nation's constitution or a willingness to disregard it by our Prez-elect. History alone offers us lessons which we should not ignore. I cannot in good conscience rationalize this Prez-elect's words, actions, conduct to date. Wise people would do well to monitor all he does and demand transparency, accountability even more so than we might ever have felt the need to do with previously elected Presidents. His concentrated effort from the beginning to undermine the credibility of our government, election process, press, whatever his motivation, has gone well beyond legitimate critiques of the problems in those areas needing correction.

  12. I must think of another way to highlight you blog so I can read your daily posts. My routine is to go down my blog roll on my sidebar and now that you aren't there I forget. But how can I forget you? I feel so bad about it.
