Finally Benumbed

Our cold weather has finally arrived.  Below is the snowstorm that sprinkled flakes across my distant neighbor's yards, but failed to move west enough to reach us and I am not complaining.

While the snow was just a confetti of flakes and never held, it was our first show of reality that winter is actually going to come.  Cold winds today and all my birds look like fat feathered figurines.

Added a blue filter below so that you can see how it really feels here.

  2. We had a smattering of snow, then freezing rain, and what we out here call a silver thaw but it left fast and we should be back to ordinary, dreary but cold, rain today ;) Oh and our clouds weren't pretty either.. just dark and solid gray

  3. We got some 'cold winter' for sure, and after being spoiled by these spring-like temperatures in December, it feels positively frigid---16 degrees here this morning. We actually had snow showers on and off all day yesterday but what accumulated didn't linger long. So we are officially into January--blue, cold days. Stay warm, my friend.

  4. I knew the cold would eventually come, but I was hoping for just a little more time in the warmth. However, the first snow is always lovely - if you don't have to drive on it.

  5. It's cold here, too. 66 degrees! Brr. We have no heat in the house, so it does feel cold to our tropical bones.

  6. I was looking at the weather map for Vermont this morning. Not sorry that I am a snowbird.

  10. Thanks. Beautifull.

I was so busy that I didn't take any pictures. Black skies. Flooded streets. George is ok without cancer or an ulcer. Now we need to know what is causing the pain. I know what's causing my pain....bronchitis again.

  11. We have gone from 2 1/2 year drought when I lost all my pecan trees. Now extreme flooding and that has even been followed by just a smattering of snow to forewarn us of things to come this season. Some say we'll be okay because it is already January and we haven't had much snow. I say I have lived in Oklahoma most of my life and often February has been a killer.

  15. Still nice here in the frozen Northland. 33 today but below zero coming this weekend. Lots of dark, dreary days. only about 4 inches of snow so far this winter. Not too sad about that. There is enough to give some protection to my perennials. Lots of winter yet to come. At least we got a white Christmas. Hope ypou have a good winter and not too many problems from El Nino.
