This "Global Refuge Mural" by Joel Bergner 2009 stimulated the words below. |
It's the words
Amorphous gems to grapple the mind's ear
It's the words
Building blocks of ideas to stand upon
It's the words
Tripping us in our stilted pondering
It's the words
Piles of them spilling onto the floor
It's the words
Bringing us to our knees in pain
Searching for that perfect one in the haystack
It's the words
Written, not shouted, across the emptiness
Can you understand me?
Tears in my eyes
ReplyDeleteover your words
as I look at your image
and also at my own
long life and now.
The pain of misunderstanding their plight (or worse, ignoring it) rings hard this time of year.
ReplyDeleteSomeone said that there is no such thing as facts....only the interpretation of the observer.
ReplyDeleteWe're at a point now that even when we speak the same language, say the same words, we don't understand each other. Not sure what's going on :(
ReplyDeleteYes, and where is that mural? Please?
ReplyDeleteYou've really embellished this mural with your words. Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteIt’s more likely that we stop up our ears because we don’t want to understand. Understanding means acting.
ReplyDeleteI CAN'T BREATHE
ReplyDeleteThe power.. and often powerlessness of words.
ReplyDeleteWe talk too much and don't always say a lot. Words can be swords (when you move the letters around).
