This photo below illustrates what this worker bee feels like as my days start to open up with more time.
I find a cool green place and just collapse and stare into the sun.
Or perhaps, I am more like this Naval Cadet below but weigh a few more pounds.
By afternoons I do look like my grandson.
And yet wish I was more like my granddaughter!
More and more, I find the need to have a little rest after lunch. It is little, and I do not always sleep and it seems I never sleep deeply ... but the rest does seem important.
ReplyDeleteI always appreciate my ability to call the shots on my own days but never more than after a period of busy-busy activity, often that I didn't plan. Then it just feels sooooo good to do whatever I want and hear the sound of-- nothing ;).
ReplyDeleteI always wish for the type of energy displayed by your grand daughter. I can't give in to the temptation to nap during the day because then I would not sleep at night.
ReplyDeleteI have the same energy as your Granddaughter, I just have to stretch it out over a month to make it last.
ReplyDeleteI nap after lunch often but with the kitchen timer set to keep it brief. And its good to have bees and sun to just sit and watch at times.
ReplyDeleteI've found that one of the best parts of retirement is being able to nap if one feels like it. I can remember so many days when still working that I would have loved to just lay my head down for a few minutes... but of course I couldn't. But now, I can!
ReplyDeleteIt's Sunday morning and I am still trying to get going. But eventually I will.
ReplyDeleteCan you nap during the day? I can't, but John can. I wish I could do handstands & cartwheels, but no.
ReplyDeleteWho wouldn't want the spunk of that granddaughter? But, the ability to fall asleep anytime, anyplace. Where does that go as we age?
ReplyDeleteWhat fun those kids are. I'm charmed by the bee....perhaps I will be him after lunch today. :) We seem to have acquired a cold of some sort. G is far worse than I.
ReplyDeleteRed and black are the University colors. :)
Everyone needs a break, even the granddaughter will eventually. Enjoy yours!
ReplyDeleteha. the sleeping bee...i might just have to go lay in the yard and take a nap..it is nice enough today...just got back from playing in the mountain creek...
ReplyDeleteYour grandkids are adorable. If only they stayed this size a while longer.
ReplyDeleteI have a busy week ahead so had a nap today to 'store up' some energy. Don't know if it works that way but I sure hope so. Otherwise I'll be like the little bee and just fall asleep where I am.
ReplyDeleteYour grandchildren are adorable. I am with you and your grandson. I can always use a nap.
ReplyDeleteI slept for four hours this afternoon. About once a week I conk out like that.
ReplyDeleteZzzzzzzzzzzz. Just catching up on my nap.
ReplyDeleteI could do what your granddaughter did - it's just that it was fifty years ago.
Each photo is a picture of health. The busy bee, the resting cadet, your handsome son and exhausted grandson and your vibrant granddaughter. Inspiring.
ReplyDeleteNaps on purpose never occur to me. Unintentional naps? What? I just sat down for a short break.
ReplyDeleteAwww... this is such a lovely post. I wish I had that much energy too. Sigh...
ReplyDeleteNever take a planned nap :)
ReplyDeletebut today it just happened.
Beautiful grandchildren
and handsome soninlaw :)
I had a sleep in the hairdresser's this afternoon - then got a fright when the assistant wanted to move me to the wash basin!
ReplyDeleteBlessings from Dalamory
