Read it or not, the life of those you love is in your hands.

There is not a lot of data, but what little there is can be found here:

  1. *squeaks* *whispers* I want to thank you for speaking out for those of us who are of a more liberal bent of mind. I am the youngest of 9 children---7 of them are rabid Republicans. I quit fighting with them years ago over politics---or posting anything that could be construed the least bit divisive. Those battles have been fought---to no avail and sometimes harm... so I owe you a huge debt of gratitude for lending me your voice.

  4. Very interesting. I've bookmarked this so I can print it out and forward it to a few people. Thanks.

  5. Interesting article, but-

The answer to #8 fewer guns in Japan than the USA is because personal ownership of guns in that nation is prohibited. You must have special permission from the government to have a gun there, usually only police have them.

Anyhow, I do think Assault weapons should be restricted. Every one I know who has one, has more than one.

I sometimes think I'd be safer with one, but then I think of all who I'd be tempted to shoot!!

So glad to live in Sweden - where we don't have guns unless you hunt - and then there are very strict regulations in place.

  7. Guns!!! That we are reduced to this is so sad! Automatic rifles and pistols...ridiculous!

  9. There's no arguing it. These are points I've seen various places and know to be true. Like Angie, I'm the minority in my family of anything along political dividing lines, so I avoid discussions with family. Sad.

It all comes down to common sense, which seems easy to me, yet escapes others, it seems.

  10. Sadly even in the UK we have had mass murders if children - e.g. at Dunblane but gun crime is very rare and ownership restricted to those licensed to use them in gun clubs. In the Olympics bullets are no longer used in some of the rifle shooting - they use lasers to show how accurate they have been. So why can't gun clubs do that and then there would be no excuse at all for British people to own guns?

Well done you for raising the subject.

  12. These days I am more anti-gun than ever before. It has just gotten absurd.

  13. Thanks Tabor. I showed this to a gun-toting-loving-defender-of gun-rights guy and he said, All statistics are skewed."

So I said, "All but your own, you mean?" and he said "Damn straight!" and I knew that if he'd had a gun in his hand he would have waved it in my face.

There's no convincing believers, no matter what facts you hand them, but hopefully enough rational people will end up creating laws that help more than the NRA lobby and more guns-for-all supporters.

  14. Good one. I plan to pass it on.

  15. That's something else again. Ugly. Neither G nor I can imagine owning a gun yet there are family members who are rabid NRA members. And too, tho G can hit anything, I certainly can't.

No, this is our second implosion tailgate. Our first was inland where the Navy took down some of their giant communication towers. This time, we ate before we left and sipped hot coffee til the crowds grew thick and we had to take defensive positions. I sat, he was at the front of the crowd across the street.

  16. It's about well considered choices for me, and I choose to carry. If your choice is not to, that's fine by me, but it doesn't give you the right to take my right away.
