I went back to the old interface and saved the remove word verification process. Would you all let me know if this works. I will leave this setting up for several posts and see if it increases spam comments. I agree with everyone that the new word verification interface that Blogger has implement is a DISASTER. You all keep me posted and I will do the same for you! Then if it seems to work, I will assist anyone else in this process.
I was surprised that while I don't have word verification on my main blog, it had been put onto a secondary one of mine which surprised me as I never wanted it. It must be their 'fall back' for everything. I guess we need to check for it even if we never thought we had it. I did it in my settings but better be sure it's really gone and didn't get put onto the main blog. I do have blogger send me emails for new posts even the times I don't do moderation. They are excellent at those not reaching the blog. You do need to check you spam file once in awhile to be sure everything there belongs. They are good at it though. If I didn't have anything sent to email, another option, I would only see them when I went there. I might do that except it was a hassle to remember to go looking at comment to okay everything there.
ReplyDeleteand there was no word verification here
ReplyDeleteRain, I have an approval process for any comments on posts older than 2 weeks and find that keeps most spam from being published. Unfortunately I do not check my blogger email all that often.
ReplyDeleteI hope I've been successful in removing word verification from my blog. Perhaps you won't mind letting me know next time you comment. I agree it's a disaster. I've not experienced all the spam others talk about. I'll just have to see what happens. I'm frequently unhappy with Bloggers changes. I believe in progress but not changing for ths sake of changing. Their changes are often made with way too many bugs to be worked out.
ReplyDeleteThanks for reassuring me - I thought it was just me being stupid over the word verification thingy. All seems well now.
ReplyDeleteYes, so much better now...Thanks
ReplyDeleteThanks for removing word verification. You won't miss it a bit, promise.
ReplyDeleteWorked perfectly... I did the same...
ReplyDeleteI have just posted on it too. To stop unpleasant comments which always come days later I've installed comment moderation to kick in after 4 days.
ReplyDeleteCan't stand Blogger forcing us to use the verification, so, no, I'm not doing it.
I wondered about the new hoops we had to jump through - I had enough trouble reading the old verifications. The new ones with two words and zany scripts were frustrating.
ReplyDeleteHello dear you who are my hero. I couldn't do that new word verification for a one woman show. I am soooooooooo grateful that you made the change. Thank you. Now I am clicking on Publish.....
ReplyDelete...and not a word struggle to be seen. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI've just sent off a note to your never looked at comcast address. Thank you again...
ReplyDeleteI despise it as well. But I have the advantage that my squirrel cage is so small, most spam doesn't even notice it.
ReplyDeleteI was glad to learn I was not alone in hating the new two word verification. Why? I get spam, but it is all bundled under the title spam and i just select all and delete it. It doesn't get posted with regular comments. I have no idea how that works.
ReplyDeleteyes, agree. I've got moderation on new comments on anything beyond 3 days back. that and spam filter have done a good job with no 'capcha' madness.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting!

I am happy without word verification, I removed it on my blog BUT I have noticed suddenly that on the blogs that still use it, the letters have become easier to use.
ReplyDeleteI think Blogger listened to this. Hope so! :)
Thanks for doing this, Tabor. I'm only coming across a few blogs which still have it.. so blog-wide whining seems to be working.
ReplyDeleteI get a LOT of spam but none of it usually makes its way into the comments. Bloggers filters seem to catch just about all of them. You'll still see them in your email notifications, if you're set up that way but they won't actually appear unless you okay them.
