Grade School Style

I am all about saving trees, but this is the entire documentation I got for setting up my PC and monitor.  When I called the store and asked about the manuals, they said they were online.  Perfect to access if you have your PC up and running...BUT!

I was trying to figure out the numbers on the various ports in the back and the front and how to recognize them.  I even looked for an image online.  After trial and error I got the printers plugged into the best ports.

Why did I go with HP you might ask?  Well, my recent one lasted almost 10 years and actually it is still running, only very slowly.

  1. Not having printed info/manuals is ridiculous. I have an HP all-in-one printer, and even it had a manual with it. I'm surprised!

  2. Online manuals are a great idea for anything computer-related except for the computer itself. Glad you got it all sorted out.

  3. That is really interesting information to know. Some behaviors of business like that puzzle me... they are so puzzling I just have to laugh to keep me from getting upset. Multibillion dollar company and they make a mistake like this.

It reminds me of a call I made at 8 pm to a customer service rep for my account... they pull up my account and say well you are a preferred customer... I thought great preferred service to the rescue and they said you have to call back during regular business hours... I had to LOL to keep from getting upset.

    Thanks for sharing the story

    Best regards,

  4. Ah, the crazy hi tech world we live in!

I have an HP as well and I've had no trouble with it.

Of course I've had it for so long now, I can't remember if a manual ever came with it.

  5. Online manuals are now becoming more common. One time, we asked if the camera we wanted to purchase had an English manual. The clerk said we can just download it from the Internet.

You just learned a new skill Tabor! Great job! :D

  6. I had one HP, and they bought it back....we loaded our software that didn't work with their hardware. Early computers weren't much better at compatibility than today's computers. Now we have a middle aged HP Notebook. We loaded only programs that were of the same vintage as the computer, and we will see how it works at Sea. :)

  7. I bought my HP laptop in June of this year and I got the same documentation as you. I had all kinds of problems at first, but the customer service was excellent and I've been up and running ever since.
