Cannot Keep Up

This is crazy.  No wonder everyone is sick, at least almost everyone I know including my doctor.  I have had a nice fire going most evenings and afternoons as temperatures outside hovered just over 30F.  The birds are loving the heated water and eating all the fattest seeds first.  I have gone through a pound of peanuts, not for me for them!  I also put on my nice warm fleece tops as I bring wood inside from the porch.

I only ventured out once for a Doctor's appointment and hurried inside office and home with the speed of a much younger woman.

Then suddenly this afternoon the weather turns again breaking 45C F!  I am roasting in my fleece and the birds are singing as if spring were just around the corner.  Clouds are warm and golden in the late afternoon.  I can't keep up!

( And to make the month weirder my daughter has already emailed me with the tentative summer schedule for her children wondering if we can work in some childsitting time.)

  1. Surely you mean 30/45degrees F?

  3. It was 69 here yesterday. A fire in the evening sounds soothing and lovely. Your birds must love you.

  5. I've been sick for 9 days. The weather has gone from 72* down to the teens and now is headed back up to the mid 60's - all week long. We're on a yo-yo again!

  6. Yo-yo weather is right! Warmer here today too.I just hibernated except one trip out for my Days Off- it was in the teens with windchill factor about 0! I can't wear enough layers- wish I had a woodstove myself. Elec heat is too expensive, so I have it on 50F!

Mostly I concentrate on not getting too dehydrated n get some steam in the air from water on the stove- so dry here lately!

Good luck keeping up- Summer is just too far ahead for me to plan...

  7. It is actually in the 70s around here and we're having to watch the doors to make sure flies don't get in. Yes flies in January.

  8. You do sound fractionally better tho. I'm avoiding my sick friends as if they all have the plague. Chill here now as the weather begins to get cold again. 16 feet waves along the coast. Even the old surfers are staying out of the water.

    You take care of you.

  10. Yes---the weather is CRAZY this year. We have had a very mild winter (almost no winter at all) except for about 3 days this week --when it got REALLY cold... Huh???? It's supposed to warm up again --and like you said, it's no wonder that everyone is sick.... mercy!!!!!

Baby-sitting, huh??? I remember those days when I kept the grands... (Glad that is over --but I hate to see them all grow up.) My grands are all TEENS now.

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  11. I'm just getting over a cold and John is just coming down with it. Bah. And our weather is about the same as yours from the sounds of it.

  12. I have to agree that the big fluctuations in temps is hard on the body.....and avoiding other people who are sick is too.

  13. You are experiencing typical Chicago weather... but the sort of weather we get in the fall. Today we're nearing 60 degrees, even though the morning was much colder. I'm not sure what to wear. So it's easiest to just stay in pjs. Until the kids start to go stir crazy.

  14. As a fellow east coast resident, I know exactly what you mean. Somehow, I've avoided the bugs.

Take care, and get out your calendar for your kids... oops, I meant, "grandkids." :)

  15. In the low 60's today and very cold last week. Temperature all over the place.
Babysitting schedule - I relate to.
Daughters start early filling in the calendar :)
    Stay Well....

  16. Don't go to medical offices. That's where they keep the sick people. Or hospitals. That's where people die.

Rely on the I AM JOE'S BODY articles from Readers Digest. Nine out of ten doctors do. They just won't admit it.

  17. Hope you'll feel better soon. Am in So. Calif. and our temp is in low 70's. We'll cool a bit over the next few days. We'd love to have snow in higher elevations of nearby mountains.

  18. I want winter! Only for a few days, mind you. The bugs need killing.

It's the typical English winter here: barely cold, wet and grey. Weather to depress the spirit.

  19. It is too warm here. My Leonbergers want the cold desperately, and when we have a few days of cold their entire mood changes with tails wagging and perky ears and wanting to play.

I hope you feel better soon! My sister is sick of being sick, she has been under the weather for going on 11 days now. :(

    Best to you!
