The Party is Over

I think everyone is relieved that the contest is over whether their candidate won or lost, because it means no more negative ads to fast forward on the DVR and no more email boxes and snail mail boxes stuffed with junk and endless requests for money.  Our Congress has an approval rating of 12.7%.  Now the work lies in the hands of those elected and re-elected.  So, if like me, you want a break go here for an outdoor respite.

  1. I need a break, yes.
Your canoe trip filled me with melancholy for canoe trips past. Some things send me straight to the old picture albums and a morning of remembering.
Then I remember the times I dumped the canoe--a quick, cold-water cure for melancholy.

  2. Tabor, thanks for that shot...an image of the kinds of things we litter the world of nature with. It might have just floated there on the air, however. Hope you had a great canoe trip...I've never done one. Always in one with a motor.

  3. One of the reasons I hate November so much is because of politics and all the negativity that it produces. This is why we may have Thanksgiving at the end of the month to wipe that bad taste from our hearts and souls. My only hope is that now that it is over, the politicians will shut up and do something positive. I know I am kidding myself and miracles seldom happen.

  4. I am writing about it once more in my blog for Saturday just because I needed to get it out of my system, but now I plan to watch and read a lot less news. I didn't have on the TV at all for the election results. I donated and did what I could before the election and now it's time to let it go-- after one little rant on Saturday ;)

Last night we watched Maleficent and if anyone likes fairy tales and a movie that makes you feel good, I recommend it as a way to get away from the negativity. Angelina Jolie was as good as I had heard she would be.

  5. yes, I'm glad it is over. disappointed at the results, at what it says about the American people. I don't expect them to govern any more now than they have been. I hate politics but at the same time you ignore it at your peril. well, I'm ignoring it now. we have a two year respite.

  6. Relieved it is over. We had a couple of nasty contests locally as well, mud slinging and gossip. The letters to the editor in our local paper were the worst.

  7. Christmas commercials have replaced the political ads, but they're preferable to all the mudslinging.

  12. This is exactly NOT the time to back off from politics. Turning people off is part of the Republican tactic of keeping voters uniformed, apathetic and less likely to vote.
So having done my share of ranting and raving about the stupidity of my fellow Americans and evil politicians I am forcing myself to get back in the fray.
